So I was looking at a particular piece of artwork on the site, and it gave me an idea for a unique replacement for the Shield Battery (which, due to the new Protoss shield regeneration mechanic seems obsolete).

If you look at the concept, it appears that the possible building (or unit) in question has no apparant firing mechanism. Therefore, this is my suggestion.

Shield Generator: Recognizing the need to protect Protoss settlements has risen in priority due to the loss of Aiur, the Protoss have made several defensive modifications to their powerful shielding systems. Among these included a drastic change to the existing Shield Battery, using its energies to project a defensive shield within an area as opposed to rejuvenating the shields of Protoss military forces.

Explanation: The Shield Generator would project a protective field within a certain radius around the Generator that would act as a secondary shield for Protoss units and structures in its AoE. The projected shield would be powered by the Shield Generator's energy bar (250 energy) and would not drain energy until the shield came under fire, however will not gain energy until deactivated.

NOTE: When I say projected, I do NOT mean a literal projected shield (as in the Bubble Shield). The only graphics I had imagined being associated with the Shield Generator was an incative/active model for the Shield Generator (basically a model for when the ability is on and one for when the ability is off) and then a colored circle that appears when the player clicks on the Shield Generator (that is only visible to the player that built it, just like a Pylon) that represents the area that is protected by an active Shield Generator.

The shield would not benefit from shield upgrades, and the amount of energy drained would be equal to the damage caused by the attack.

Overlapping shields would share the damage, causing the energy drained to be less (for example, if a marine attacked one active shield, 6 energy would be drained from the Shield Generator. However, if the same marine attacked a unit under the protection of 2 Shield Generators, each one would only lose 3 energy) The Generator will lose AT LEAST 1 energy, regardless of the number of overlaps.

Finally, damage directed to units under the effects of the Shield Generator will be absorbed completely by the Generator until it has exhausted its energy.

Reason: Because the Shield Battery is no longer going to be in the game, I thought it would be nice to have a replacement for this popular defensive Protoss structure. As is, it is only a viable option for increasing Protoss base survivability and cannot be used in an offensive fashion.

同时处在多个防护力场覆盖范围中的单位,所受到的伤害由这些发生器均摊能量消耗;无论单位被多少力场覆盖,每次吸收伤害,消耗至少1能量。
